Greenwich Village Master Bathroom Suite

When the owners of a Greenwich Village apartment purchased the 1000 s.f. unit next door, they hired the architect Ed Ingersoll to combine the two apartments into a single, cohesive space. The unit was demolished in order to create a master bedroom suite, a full bathroom, linen closets and make-up vanity.

Ingersoll chose Burmese teak for the vanity, dressing room and master bath as a dark contrasting accent to the Carrara marble tile and countertop and because of the material’s water-resistant properties. Southside Workshop Inc. was commissioned to fabricate custom millwork for the master bath and dressing room.

A close collaboration with the general contractor, Urban Builders Group, was required to achieve a seamless wall-to-wall and floor to ceiling fit for the fabricated built-in pieces. The vanity was built to accommodate transformers for lighting and the medicine cabinet was designed to house LED lighting above and below with the stone backsplash fitting directly underneath.

The end result is a master bath suite with a soft, seamless appearance.
